Where to find sun from Warsaw
Warsaw is continental: cold, fairly dry winters and warm summers with real heat in July. The Baltic coast is cooler in summer, not a sunshine upgrade.
What you can reach
About 2 hours by car: Lodz (about 1 h 45), Radom (about 1 h 15), Plock (about 1 h 15).
Further, still inside 5 hours: Krakow (about 3 h 30), Lviv (about 4 h 45), Wroclaw (about 4 h 15), Poznan (about 4 h), Gdańsk (about 4 h).
Inside a 4-hour door-to-door flight, and too far for that drive: Hamburg, Koszalin, Malmö, Klaipėda. Four hours by air can reach the Adriatic. That is the winter leap. The car has no equivalent.
Car times are the straight-line estimate SunFinder starts from (~70 km/h), before a routed drive. A mountain road or a ferry takes longer. The flight circle is the same 4-hour limit the tool uses.
When to stay
Krakow and the lake district are different landscapes in the same season. A five-hour drive does not escape a grey November. In summer the city is often hot enough that leaving is about crowds, not weather.
