Where to find sun from Nuremberg

Nuremberg is Franconian and inland: colder in winter than the Rhine, warm in summer, and under the same air mass as the rest of northern Bavaria.

What you can reach

About 2 hours by car: Augsburg (about 1 h 45), Regensburg (about 1 h 15), Wuerzburg (about 1 h 15), Heilbronn (about 2 h).

Further, still inside 5 hours: Munich (about 2 h 15), Prague (about 3 h 30), Cologne (about 4 h 45), Frankfurt (about 2 h 45), Stuttgart (about 2 h 15).

Inside a 4-hour door-to-door flight, and too far for that drive: Pescara, Toulon, Livorno, Rijeka. The four-hour flight circle reaches the Adriatic and northern Italy. That is a different weekend. January swimming is not in it.

Car times are the straight-line estimate SunFinder starts from (~70 km/h), before a routed drive. A mountain road or a ferry takes longer. The flight circle is the same 4-hour limit the tool uses.

When to stay

Two hours is still Bavaria. Five hours reaches Munich, the Alps and Prague, which in winter means snow or the same frost. Stay unless you specifically want the mountains.
